Primary curriculum
Our school will offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) which prepares students to become active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. The IB PYP is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 4 to 12. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. The PYP is flexible enough to accommodate the demands of a national or local curriculum and provides the best preparation for students to engage in their next steps in education.
Six themes
The programme is defined by the following six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning:
- Who we are
- Where we are in place and time
- How we express ourselves
- How the world works
- How we organize ourselves
- Sharing the planet
The IB offers four programmes and caters for children from the age of 3 to 18. This programme is currently being offered to over one million students in 146 countries. More information about the IB and the programmes it offers can be found at www.ibo.org. Our Program Of Inquiry can be found in the Downloads section of this website.
